The Ocean County Construction Inspection Department provides fire, building and plumbing subcode service under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code on Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 1:30pm until 3:00pm.

Construction permits are required for roofing, siding, plumbing work, and other items. Contact the Construction Office at (732) 657-4141 or 4161 from 9:00am until 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, to schedule an inspection or for additional information.

ZONING PERMITS: Zoning permits are required for additions, decks, sheds, and fences. A zoning permit is available at the Business Office for a fee of $10.00. Construction permits will not be issued without zoning permit, if required. Setback information is as follows:

CERTIFICATES OF CONTINUED OCCUPANCY (CO'S): Certificates of Occupancy are required for all rentals and resales of commercial or residential structures in the Borough. Call (732) 657-4141 or 4161 for additional information. The fee for a residential Certificate of Continued Occupancy is $50.00, which includes a required smoke detector certification. Residential Certificate of Continued Occupancy inspections are conducted on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m..

The fee for a commercial Certificate of Continued Occupancy inspection is $100. The fee breakdown is as follows:

Checks for commercial Certificates of Continued Occupancy should be made payable to OCCID (Ocean County Construction Inspection Department). Eighty dollars ($80.00) is paid in the Business Office for the building, plumbing, and fire inspections.
